As the only TEC Platinum Distributor in the region we can offer you full technical support on your TEC motors whether it be a simple quote or a more complicated question we are here to help.

In addition to our own extensive stock of TEC motors kept at our Grantham and Peterborough locations, we also have access to the UK’s largest stock of electric motors, gearboxes, pumps and drives – all available for same day delivery when required and at highly competitive prices.

In partnership with TEC, we offer a range of motor modifications including; specialist paint finishes, shaft modifications, IP56/65/66 upgrades, encoder fitting, AC/DC brake fitting, ATEX motors, special voltage motor rewinds, special build gearboxes.

The full range of motors includes standard single and three phase motors as well as cast iron frame, braked and units certified to IECEx and ATEX.

We are specialists at modifying stock motors for your specifications and needs and work with some of the most challenging industries for electric motor, gearbox and pump applications. For example, where water ingress is an issue we can upgrade the IP rating using rubber epoxy resin to seal the terminal box and upgrading the shaft sealing arrangement in-house from stock.

IE means International Efficiency and the number is the class. IE3 is premium efficiency, which is the minimum required for most new industrial applications under current regulations. The TEC range covers the classes needed for compliance.

IE3 loses less energy as heat than IE2 for the same shaft power. The purchase price is higher, but on a motor running long hours the electricity saving usually covers that difference comfortably within the motor's working life.

Two reasons. Running cost, because the energy saving compounds on high hours duty, and compliance, because current regulations require higher efficiency classes for most new industrial motor applications in the UK and Europe.

Not automatically. Inverter operation stresses winding insulation and reduces cooling at low speed on fan cooled motors. Tell us when you order that the motor will run on a drive and we will specify one rated for it.

Fifteen to twenty years or more is normal for a well maintained industrial motor. Duty and environment decide it more than the badge, and scheduled bearing changes make the biggest single difference.

From both our Grantham and Peterborough sites. We are the only TEC Platinum Distributor in the region, which is the top distributor tier, so significant stock is held here rather than ordered in from the manufacturer.

Common ratings are held in stock at both sites for same day collection or next day delivery. Call with the frame size, rating and mounting and we can confirm availability while you are on the phone.

Work from the nameplate: manufacturer, frame size, kilowatt rating, voltage, speed and mounting. Send us a photograph of the plate and we will match it to the nearest equivalent, and machine an adaptor if the mounting differs.

A geared motor is a motor and gearbox supplied as one matched unit, giving a set output speed and torque. We stock TEC geared motors and gearboxes alongside the motor range, including worm and helical units.

Platinum is the top tier in TEC's distributor network and we are the only one in the region. In practice it means deeper stock holding, direct technical support and direct pricing, and any warranty issue handled through us rather than by you with the manufacturer.

TEC has a solid reputation in UK industry for reliability and value across the required efficiency classes. We repair as well as sell, so we see what comes back through the workshop, and TEC units return less often than most.

Both our workshops repair, service and rewind the motors we sell, so the unit comes back to the place it came from. We hold the specification on file, which speeds up any later repair considerably.
